Abstract

Water disputes have been a significant issue in many regions around the world, including the state of Haryana in India. This research paper explores the social and political dynamics that contribute to water disputes in Haryana, focusing on the historical context and current challenges faced by the state. The research paper also discusses the impact of these disputes on the local populations and suggests potential solutions to address these ongoing issues. The state has a predominantly agricultural economy, with water being a critical resource for irrigation and other agricultural activities. Haryana relies heavily on the waters of the Yamuna and Sutlej rivers for its water supply, but increasing population growth, urbanization, and industrial development have put immense pressure on these water sources, leading to conflicts over water allocation and distribution.
