The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 represents a significant overhaul of India’s education system, aiming to address longstanding issues and align educational practices with contemporary global standards. This study provides an analytical examination of NEP 2020, focusing on its policymaking process, stakeholder involvement, and implementation challenges, and anticipated impacts. Through a thorough content analysis of the NEP 2020 document, government reports, and official statements, the study identifies key themes such as holistic education, inclusivity, technology integration, and vocational training. A comparative analysis with previous education policies in India highlights continuities and shifts in policy focus, while case studies of international educational reforms provide context and contrast. The thematic analysis categorizes the findings into several themes, including the complexities of the policymaking process, the importance of stakeholder engagement, and the significant challenges of financial constraints and capacity building. It also discusses the anticipated impacts on educational quality, accessibility, and alignment with global standards. The study concludes that NEP 2020 has the potential to significantly enhance India’s education system, provided that implementation challenges are effectively addressed. Recommendations include strengthening financial support, capacity building, stakeholder engagement, and coordination between central and state governments. Future research should focus on innovative teaching methods, global collaborations, lifelong learning, and targeted programs for marginalized communities. Overall, NEP 2020 represents a transformative step towards creating a more inclusive, equitable, and high-quality education system in India.
